I have spoken about Google AdWords before, but I thought I’d go a little more indepth this time. Having used AdWords for 7 months now, to profitable results, I strongly recommend anyone interested in making money on the internet, to try it. AdWords is free to sign up and you don’t need a website/blog because you set up ads that are listed on Google search engine results and as AdSense on websites, that match what you are advertising. For people new to the affiliate market, it’s a good place to start because all you have to worry about is setting up an ad. that will entice people to click on it, then hopefully sign up to the product/site you’re promoting. Here’s my guide to using AdWords:
1. Register with affiliate programs that pay well. Look at my featured links for a few that I use.
2. First, you’ll need to sign up for an AdWords account. Go to the main AdWords site and click the button labeled “Click to begin”. The sign up process is quick and simple.
3. Once you’ve created your account it’s time to set up your ad. First step is to fill in a form, that will determine the title, body text and URL of your ad. Next step is inserting the keywords. Choose keywords that you think are most relevant to your product. Type in some keywords, and use the “Keyword Tool” on the right hand side of the page, to get suggestions from Google. Finally, set up how much you’ll pay per click (it can be as little as 1p per click) bearing in mind the more you pay the higher up the listings you’ll be. The knock on effect of that is, more “click throughs” and ultimately more affiliate sign ups.
4. Once it’s all set up it’s a case of sitting back and waiting. Google AdWords updates regularly with a wide range of stats. Keeping your eye on the stats will allow you to revise your ad to get the best results.
Just to give you an idea of possible profit, here’s an example: You pay 10p per click and your ad gets 200 clicks, it will cost you £20. Your affiliate program pays £50 per sign up and it’s a fair assumption that for every 200 clicks you will get at least 2 sign ups. Bottom line of it is, every 200 clicks you make £80. If you can get your click rate up to 1000+ a week I’ll let you do the maths. On a final note I’ll just say keep tweaking your ad to get the best results.
